Cristin’s Heart and Soul

Cristin’s Heart and Soul

This is the first of Cristin McDonnell’s blogs, a young woman who is helping us with marketing throughout this fall. She comes with a great deal of heart, a friend of plant and animal alike. She is also a student of Ayurvedic medicine and will share her research on plant medicine in coming blogs.

Patricia, the co-owner of Harms Vineyards and Lavender Fields, kindly introduced me in a post that she shared last week.  I am so excited to be a part of the Harms team.  As she stated, I have just recently moved to California from Virginia.  Virginia is home to my wonderful mom, dad, two brothers, and a fantastic sister-in-law, other close relatives and a network of loving, supportive friends, that I also call family.  I have two dogs, who are my heart and soul.  They are in the picture that is posted.  Angel is the larger of the two dogs and her favorite activity is chasing golfballs as my dad practices his chip shot in the backyard.  Cooper is the smaller of the two dogs, and the oldest, as he is around fourteen years old.

Cooper just had his first acupuncture treatment at the vet yesterday.  He is having trouble with his back legs.  We are very lucky to have a vet in Chesapeake, VA, that embraces both eastern and western medicine.  Homeopathic medicine was a huge draw in taking this opportunity to work at Harms.  I have completed two years of studies in Ayurvedic medicine.

Harms aromatics are, of course fragrant, and beautiful, but I have truly enjoyed studying their healing properties as well. I look forward to sharing some of my research on these healing properties of lavender, helichrysum, rosemary, and rose geranium in future blogs.
