This week Smoky Zeidel published my Guest Blog in her series on what inspires artists and writers. “How Snakes Inspired Me to Write a Novel” tells how I came to write and publish Snakes, a novel written in the period of the demise of the family farm across America. It is a story about loss of sense of place and re-finding it, told through the lens of snake stories told in the Midwest. Many of these stories I heard growing up on a small farm. My Jungian analyst ear began to listen to the ground from which these stories were spawned for the larger meaning. Read Snakes and read my guest post, as well as those of several other authors.
