The Greening

This time of year is magical to me. For the last months in our Mediterranean climate, everything has been brown, and the fire danger, high, especially as autumn approached. Then we have the first big rain, often in late October or early November, and within a week, everything is transformed by tiny green shoots pushing up.

New shoots after rain storms of 2.2 inches.
