Our son Jesse Pizzitola and his partner Nathan Boone of First Light Farm, Jesse’s wife Lisa Murgatroyd and partner Ariana Reguzzoni of Chica Bloom Flowers, are opening their farmstand for this season tomorrow! If you are in the area, go by, purchase incredible produce (including our lavender), a full and beautiful bouquet of Lisa and Ariana’s flowers, and sign up for the $100 veggie raffle.
For several years First Light Farm sold their dry-farmed potatoes only to high end restaurants such as the French Laundry. However, Jesse and Nathan are dedicated to bringing high quality produce to all of us and now we can purchase these potatoes from them at the farmstand, along with a variety of seasonal produce. They also sell at the Sebastopol Certified Farmers Market, located in the town plaza, on Sundays and the Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market, located at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts (50 Mark West Springs Road), on Saturdays. In an article on First Light Farm last month, Michele Anna Jordan, food writer for the Press Democrat of Santa Rosa, CA, called First Light Farm “a farm to watch. Boone and Pizzitola are dedicated to farming and to providing wholesome food to their community. Their success and expansion makes one hopeful about the future of agriculture in Sonoma County.”
This generation of farmers has arrived none too soon! We need ethical, dedicated young people to grow for us into the future. Please support local farmers!
