February Honey Bee Food

Honey bee visiting rosemary blossom.

Many people are surprised to learn that in moderate climates, cities are  one of the best places for honey bees to forage. They never go hungry! If you live in such a climate, consider planting a variety of blooming bushes and plants so that your garden always has blossoms. It will help out our bees!

We work to have a diversity of plants that bloom year round on our ranch. Coyote bush is just fading; wild flowers are slowing coming on. In February one of the most visited by honey bees is the rosemary. We use rosemary along fences as it is drought tolerant and beautiful. We can also distill it. This week it is quite abuzz with activity!
