Gemini: Working with the Moon
It’s a “flower” day, the moon in Gemini, an air sign, and ideal for working with aromatics. This morning we are pruning the lavender back into the little mounds in which it will stay for the next ten months. It is important to finish this pruning now so the plants have time to harden off before frost.
People ask if I think it makes a difference to coordinate with the moon cycles. Yes, I answer. I cite some of the studies that Maria Thun did with moon cycles and different kinds of plants. But I then add that the big difference is on me: I feel in tune with the moon… and the sun, and the cosmic rhythms.
The moon this morning was a last sickle in the clear, dark, predawn sky. Sickles have been used to harvest, to cut and trim. We will not use a sickle, but the synchronicity seems to be the moon’s voice: the timing is right to prune, she says in so many ways. Learning her rhythms is learning her subtleties and she blesses us with increased sensititivies.
